OUR COACHES – 2024/25

Our coaches are committed to providing the best possible experience for our players.

Our coaches are current and former accomplished water polo players with a passion for the sport.  Most of them have trained as coaches, lifeguards and swim instructors.

Taylor Laine – 18U Coach

Taylor is thrilled to be back at Lions for her 8th season coaching the 18U division, and is even more excited to be celebrating her 11th season coaching at Lions! She has experience in all avenues of water polo coaching including recreational, BCSSA and the competitive level. She is also involved with creating changes to water polo rules/policy. She is looking forward to seeing new and familiar faces on the pool deck and having fun with all the athletes, volunteers and coaches this season!

Luna Lim – 14U Coach

Luna has been playing water polo since the age of 11 and has been coaching with the Coquitlam Lions Water Polo club for over 8 years. She looks forward to continuing to work with some of our club’s youngest players in the 14U division and introduce them to the wonders of water polo.

Yu-Xing Lim – 18U Coach

Xing started his water polo career as a Coquitlam Lions Cub at the age of 7. This season will be his 14th season with the club. He is super excited to be coaching this season and to share his passion for water polo with everyone.

Yu-Heng Lim – 16U Coach

Coach Heng has been coaching the 16U division for the past four seasons. This season is Coach Heng’s 14th year with Coquitlam Lions. Having played in both the community and competitive leagues, he is excited to share his experiences. He is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics at SFU.

Kim Pereira – 14U/16U Coach

Kim started playing water polo for Coquitlam Lions when she was 11 years old, and since then her love for the sport has only grown. After a year of playing recreational water polo, she joined a high-performance team called Pacific Storm. After challenging herself on that team for six years, Kim has decided to continue being in the community as a coach and referee instead of a player. She cannot wait to have an amazing season with the players and hopes she can make them appreciate the sport as much as she does!

Emma Andrusiw – 10U/12U Coach

This is Emma’s 3rd year coaching with the Coquitlam Lions and she is super excited to continue working with 10U and 12U groups. Emma started her water polo career with the Lions at age 9.  This is her 8th year with the club and her 2nd year playing with the 18U team. She looks forward to sharing her passion for water polo with the new and returning players.

Tedd Nelson – 10U/12U Coach

Tedd has been playing with the Lions since 2017 and this will be his third year coaching. He is so excited to be coaching the 10U and 12Us. He can’t wait to help new and experienced players achieve their goals and show them how fun water polo is.
